Well, I have to say Tom did a great interview, but I agree Matthew and John Q that this is a difficult topic. But I wish they would speak to those in the churches who are closing their minds and hearts to their sons and daughters just because of the people they sleep with. I think the church needs to keep it's nose out of the bedroom. Marylou and Bob are braver than I am. Still it hurts to know that there are so many who know nothing of unconditional love. My child comes first and who he sleeps with is the lesser of many things that assail them in this life. If they're happy, show love to those around them. They are a blessing to this world. Time is too short for each of us to think we have a right to judge anyone.

What an excellent interview. After discussing topics like this on my show, this was a great follow up to that conversation. I'm so glad they are out crossing the country, spreading their story. They are both brave and admirable. Thanks for sharing this with us, Tom!

What a great story the Wallenrs have become, turning tragedy into something positive. Like JQP, I'm sure that Anna would be very proud of what they're doing. I'd also like to echo what Matthew said, but add that there are plenty of GLBT people who feel under siege from Christians generally, so it's good for them to be reminded that the evil perpetrated against GLBT peoples isn't Christian at all. Seems to me that the Wallners are doing the ultimate Christian thing--lighting a candle and chasing away the darkness.

Thanks for bringing us another great show with, yes, amazing guests.

Religion and homosexuality is a touchy subject for many folks. This interview was handled with dignity and respect for both. I grieve for Mary Lou and Bob's daughter, that she never knew how loved she was until after the fact, but give them all the praise for carrying on her legacy, despite what the rest of their families feel.

Great show! I don't think they are preaching to the choir at all when they are talking to GLBT groups. There are still a lot of people who are estranged from their families and hearing the Wallner's story could give them hope in their own situation. It's so sad it took a tragedy for them to come to be such wonderful activists for love and acceptance, but I am most grateful to them for the good and healing they have done in the world.

No comments! What the heck! I can't imagine why others haven't commented on this amazing (your word) impressive (my word) discussion. The fact that they have gone through this heartbreak and have worked to give back to the community is unlike anything I've ever heard.

I'm sure their daughter would be proud of the contributions they have made to the community and I hope that it gives them comfort.
