When you asked him what kept them together, he said he just “knew”. Perhaps that’s the only way to describe it, but I think it’s a combination of life experiences, being there for someone, etc., not just the physical attraction, as he states it “was a two way street”. Certainly a true testimony that loving relationships can last regardless of gender.

I really liked hearing the perspective of what it was like to be gay in the 50s/60s/70s. It’s kind of interesting that there was a stronger notion of “don’t get caught” for fear of being labeled with a mental disability… but at the same time the STD’s of the era were cured with a simple pill or shot.

Nowadays, it’s like people will be much more accepting of homosexuality, but there are STD’s that will kill you.

Also, John talked about both he and his partner having a marriage with a great gal-pal that produced children. I wonder if statistically there were a lot more gay people forming heterosexual relationships with children than there are now… or whether the proportion of gay people getting married to a women since it seems like “the thing to do” remains the same today.

I SERIOUSLY need to start checking out these bus stations…and when Jed reads that, I’ll probably have to!

I was ALMOST 1 when they got together. Damn, that’s heart-warming.

My favorite line, “He likes to cook, I like to eat!” I my case, I like to do both.

I think it was so telling that he pointed out their differences, and that as long as you have respect for each other’s differences you can accomplish anything.
